chronicle movie promotion thinkmodo airplanes flying people super powers february 3rdMovie studios have always been working on more and more creative ways to promote their upcoming movies. Some stunts, in the past, have ranged from strange, bizarre, to ones that completely backfire. One prime example of a backfired stunt is the one that was done five years ago for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Advertising people placed boxes around Boston with magnetic lights displaying characters from the show, which in our post 9/11 world, scared the blazes out of people, and landed them in jail.

This year, however, one recent movie stunt was planned and executed very brilliantly by the producers of the upcoming science-fiction film, “Chronicle.” The studio brought in the folks at Thinkmodo, a company whose specialty is the creation of videos that go viral.

The company went to work, creating some very special model airplanes. These three planes were designed to look, in flight, like a person flying under his own power might, and were under the control of skilled remote control techs. The stunt was then executed in New York City, with not only the flight itself being filmed, but the scenes showing the launch of the plane as well.

Check out the video and see for yourself. Thinkmodo truly causes folks to think that a man can fly.

Chronicle,” the film for which the stunt was performed, is a story about three teenagers who gain incredible powers. However, one of them lets his powers go to his head and makes a distinct dark turn, as you can see in this teaser trailer for the film.

“Chronicle” will open in theaters on February 3rd. If you are using Get Glue, you can get one of their “coming soon” stickers for this movie by checking in to the movie at Get Glue site. Not yet familiar with Get Glue? Here’s some information about the website.
